Movember in full whiskery swing

It’s that time of year again. It’s November, or Movember, which means that moustaches are sprouting up everywhere and parties featuring these mustached men are being hosted at every bar and restaurant in town. Much like last year – men across the city will be shaving off their gorgeous, hairy beards, letting their upper lip accumulate a little (or a lot) of fuzz all month long!
In short, Mo Bros raise money to fight the number one male cancer – prostate cancer. On average, 11 Canadian men die of prostate cancer every day. The moustache is about changing the face of men’s health, getting men to discuss health issues and take action before it’s too late. Some stories resonate closer to home than others and it’s evident that every stache has their own story. Whether they are letting it grow for their friend, father, uncle, grandfather or for the cause in general, it’s a global event that has both men AND women participating.
To date, the Movember community has raised $574 million since 2003 when it all began and funded 800 programs in 21 countries. 4 million moustaches have been grown worldwide since the start of this health campaign – pretty remarkable numbers!
Many ask how women can get involved – is this a man-only health campaign? The answer is no. Similar to breast cancer awareness campaigns where men do their part by donating, women do the same during Movember – but they can have a little more fun with it. The amount of sticky moustaches sold in stores during Movember have increased so women can sport their own funky stache’ and support their Mo Bro’s in style!
