Sun Youth Christmas Basket Distribution – On Wednesday, December 19th, the Sun Youth Christmas Basket Distribution with the massive support from the forces of law and order! As usual, the organization was able to count on the support of groups of volunteers, including officers from the Montreal Police (SPVM) to distribute food baskets and toys to thousands of families in need. By the end of the 2018 Christmas basket distribution, approximately 5,000 families will have received perishable and non-perishable food, hygiene products and some surprises. It is also some 5000 new toys that will have been given to children 12 years and under.
The relationship between Sun Youth and the Montreal Police is nothing new. Indeed, the Montreal police officers were among the first partners of the organization in the 1950’s. Even today, the SPVM collaborates with Sun Youth year-round, notably with the organization’s Bike Patrol, its rewards program (set up in 1991 thanks to the kind collaboration of the SPVM) as well as other special SPVM projects.
It is with pleasure that Sun Youth welcomed the new director of the SPVM, Mr. Sylvain Caron, who came to lend a helping hand to distribute the Christmas baskets. Director Caron is a long-time friend of Sun Youth and was not on his first Christmas helping the organization.
