Amazing foodie date ideas for Valentine’s Day in Montreal
While Valentine’s Day is just around the corner, a lot of us are getting ready to celebrate and planning the perfect date for their partner. And, if you are looking for great (foodie) date ideas, we’ve got an interesting list of choices for you. Here are some delicious ideas on where to bring your date, because we all know the way to a (wo)man’s heart is through their stomach.
The perfect dinner date
Montreal certainly doesn’t lack great restaurants. While it might be hard to pick the right one on Valentine’s Day, here are a few options on where you should go on that special evening.
One of Montreal “foodie’s favorite” , restaurant Tuck Shop, recently reopened after a three-week closure for renovations, with a new and improved kitchen, dining room, and menu. Why not take the opportunity of Valentine’s Day to revisit this upscale Montreal classic with your loved one ? You will then get the chance to enjoy their revamped menu (which focuses on hearty dishes for winter) and see their updated dining room (that is now sleeker and more modern). This Valentine’s Day, impress your date with this restaurant winner that is now better looking *and tastier* than ever.
While Saint-Laurent Boulevard is not what it used to be, the restaurant/bar SuWu is still going strong, offering a sexy and electric atmosphere, friendly service and a “gourmet bistro” menu that can be shared for a casual and fun date on Valentine’s Day. The wine list is also well thought out, showcasing bio wines and private imports. Psst… the house’s dessert “to share” (a hot chocolate chip cookie in a pan, topped with melted vanilla ice cream) will certainly seal the deal.
Perles & Paddock
There are more than a few reasons to visit restaurant Perles & Paddock around Valentine’s Day. First off, they just launched a new menu, they also recently welcomed chef Julia Giraud (Buvette Chez Simone, Pastaga) in their culinary team and they are offering their “tasting menu” at half price on Wednesday February 13th (and all other Wednesdays during the month of February). Therefore, why not impress your date with a dinner in the impressive decor of Perles & Paddock while trying new things at, best of all, a reduced price !
This new project from the power team behind Holder is absolutely gorgeous and highly original. If you are looking for a place to grab a drink, cocktails and to nibble on some very good food (the kitchen is run by restaurant Atma team) then the new cozy and sexy space of 409, McGill in Old Montreal is the perfect spot for your Valentine’s Day date. Tested and approved.
The perfect brunch date
Because there is not only one way to celebrate Valentine’s Day, why not go out for a special brunch date. Because brunch is so much fun, especially when it includes mimosas…
Sofitel’s Le Renoir
Sunday Brunch at Restaurant Le Renoir is meant for special occasions. Every table is decorated with fresh-cut flowers, and every guest is welcomed like royalty with a homemade orange juice and speciality coffees. The buffet is also very elaborate and elegant : you can enjoy pastries from MOF Roland Del Monte and delicacies from chef Olivier Perret. Think: homemade pastries, savory dishes, egg and waffle stations, fruit table, and also: additional “à la carte” option in case you are hungry for more. Valentine’s Day is the perfect occasion to treat yourself and your better half with a serious brunch, and the Sofitel’s one is definitely up to the challenge.
Fairmont The Queen Elizabeth Rosélys
Since we are talking about “serious” brunch here, it is mandatory to also mention the Fairmont Queen Elizabeth Sunday Brunch Feast at Restaurant Rosélys. It is, again, a brunch meant for special occasions where you can enjoy as much (good) food as you like with : a sushi table, crepes, pizzas and pasta stations, an impressive dessert table, a smoothie and fruit station, and so much more. The restaurant is impressive and the ambiance, very festive. If your date enjoys “brunching” we suggest picking a brunch date for Valentine’s Day, and now you know where to go.
We won’t tell anyone, but the weekend brunches at Brasserie 701 are offered at 17$ during the month of February. The brunch at Brasserie 701 begins with a smoothie of the day and your choice of main between: blueberry pancakes, egg & tomato toast or egg benedicts. The chic and festive restaurant also serves an “À la carte” menu and a bottomless mimosa option for an extra 30$ per person. And, because it’s Valentine’s Day (and it’s very affordable), you must take it. Sunday Funday !
