Montreal’s Second Annual Cake Show & Competition for a sweet cause


Montreal’s sugar craving is back and bigger than ever at the 2nd Montreal Cake Show & Competition taking place Oct 19-20 at Cegep Vanier Sports Complex in Ville Saint Laurent! Whether you like to bake as a hobby, a profession or just want a sweet day out, the Montreal Cake Show is where you want to be! This 2-day event combines professionally taught classes, a jaw dropping expo floor with vendors, free demos and over 100 cakes on display! A Charity Cupcake Challenge will crown Montreal’s Best Cupcake, a riveting Live Challenge will see 3 teams compete to create a Halloween cake that will wow the judges and an action packed Michaels KidsZone will keep the young ones entertained.

The proceeds of this entirely VOLUNTEER run event will go towards the Quebec Breast Cancer Foundation is sure to inspire professional, amateurs and anyone interested in All Things Sweet!

This unique show will have something for all levels and ages from beginners to advanced and even the little ones (Children 10 and under can attend the expo for free). Whether interested in cakes, cupcakes, cookies, chocolate or cakepops you will want to visit the Montreal Cake Show is sure to inspire professional, amateurs and anyone interested in All Things Sweet!

Our generous volunteers and sponsors have helped create an exciting event with over $20,000 in prizes being given out over the weekend from Redpath Sugar, Michael’s, Caljava, ventes Rudolph,  Mirage Margarine, Maison Christian Faure, Simply Sweet www.simply-sweet.ca, Café Brossard, Salon de la Mariee-Sheldon Kagan International & les Chocolats de Roxy & Rich, Mariage Quebec – you won’t want to miss out on the action.

Here are some of the highlights from the Montreal Cake Show & Competition:

CAKE EXPO – Over 30 categories of competition
Contestants enter their sugar art for a chance to win amazing prizes as judged by our celebrity panel. The contest is open to all ages (kids, beginners, advanced and culinary students) in over 30 categories including wedding cakes, confections (cupcakes, cookies and more), show theme (Halloween!), sculpted cakes, sugar shoe and more – including a new category based on taste.
CUPCAKE CHALLENGE – Come taste & vote for Montreal’s best cupcake
(Saturday, October 19th, 3:00 pm – 6:00 pm, $25 includes cupcakes, coffee/water, door prizes, entertainment and more)
Montreal ‘s top cupcake bakers will come together to compete to see who makes Montreal ‘s BEST Halloween cupcake, as chosen by our celebrity judging panel and event attendees! Challengers will compete to be the Best Cupcake, Finest Tasting, Finest Looking, Funkiest and People’s Choice and win big prizes. Attendees will have the opportunity to taste cupcakes, support local Montreal charities Kids Help Phone and Christmas 4 A Cause and take part in a Halloween-themed spooky fun event.
LIVE CHALLENGE – 3 teams, 3 hours, 1 winner
(Sunday, October 20th, 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm, $35 includes coffee/water, door prizes, snacks and more)
Just like you’ve seen on TV, 3 teams of 2 will compete in front of a live audience, not only to be Montreal’s first Live Challenge winners, but also for thousands of dollars in prizes from Ventes Rudolph 2000, Micahels, Redpath Sugar, Mirage Margarine, Caljava, GPR distribution and more! An event not to be missed – limited seating available.

EXPO SHOWFLOOR – amazing cake creations, Sweet Tools, Vendor demos and more!
Interested in learning and looking but not competing? Check out our expo floor open Saturday & Sunday (10:00 am – 6:00 pm) see the 100+ entries in the Cake Expo and vote for your favorite, pick up the latest sweet tools and cake toys at our amazing vendor booths and participate at some of the free on-site activities including a wide variety of vendor demos both days and special demos both days at the Redpath Sugar and Mirage Margarine areas.


CLASSES – 35+ professionally-taught, bilingual classes
Learn the basic buttercream skills or benefit from something more specific such as character sculpting, creating chocolate flowers, cakepops, 3D cakes, and more. These bilingual classes and are available for all levels and ages.


MICHAEL’S KID ZONE – Teaching the next generation of sugar artists
Little artists are the future of the business and we cater to them in a special way. Along with our proud partner Michaels, kids can take part in cookie decorating, face painting, arts and crafts and more. The Kid Zone is both days from 10:00 am – 6:00 pm.

The Montreal Cake Show is the only bilingual, all level baking show of it’s kind in North America.
