The Montreal Canadiens are holding their fourth New and Used Skates Drive on Saturday, April 5 at the Bell Centre prior to the game against the Detroit Red Wings. This initiative will help several local charities and youngsters who do not have the necessities in sports equipment. BLEU BLANC BOUGE, the Montreal Canadiens Children’s Foundation outdoor rink program, will be the main beneficiary of this skate drive. Since 2008, the Foundation has built five multi-sport and refrigerated outdoor community rinks in the boroughs of Villeray-Saint-Michel-Parc-Extension, Montréal-Nord, Verdun, LaSalle and Côte-des-Neiges- Notre-Dame-de-Grâce. The sixth rink will be built outside of the Montreal area in the Christ-Roi Park in Longueuil, scheduled to open for winter 2015. Fans attending the game are invited to contribute by donating new or used skates to this cause. Player spouses along with volunteers of the Foundation will be at various entrances of the Bell Centre to collect the skates. For their contribution, participants will have the chance to win player-autographed items.

About the Montreal Canadiens Children’s Foundation
The Montreal Canadiens Children’s Foundation provides help and support to children in need. Since its inception in August 2000, the Foundation has donated upwards of $16 million to more than 500 charitable endeavors from across the province of Quebec who work for the well-being of underprivileged children. The Foundation fulfills its mandate in two ways: first, through a unique flagship project – the BLEU BLANC BOUGE program – which consists of building community refrigerated and multisport rinks, secondly by providing financial support to organizations whose projects and programs allow children to adopt healthy lifestyles by being more active and eating better.
