Since their first performance in Montreal at the late bar, Woodstock, in 1993, Radiohead’s genius has never ceased to amaze us with stunning performances !
Their show at Osheaga in 2016 is one the festivals most memorable performances. The band then played a solid 32 song set list that included rare tracks, but also presented their totaly new album ‘A Moon Shaped Pool’, an album that was barely a week old and is now one of the band’s most critically acclaimed.
This time, Thom Yorke kept his impressive roll going with one of Montreal’s biggest shows of the year! He Graced the stage with his intriguing personality and virtuosity along with the bands guitarists – Jonny Greenwood and Ed O Brian, both on the Rolling Stone’s list of ‘Best guitarist’s of all time’ – also being joined by Colin Greenwood, the bands bassist and Clive Deamer, drummer from Portishead that joined the tour in 2016. It was a special sensorial experience filled with intense visuals and scenic light shows that brought everybody into the band’s strange state of mind.

The OPENER
The Bell Center stage was first warmed up by Junun. One of Jonny Greenwood’s side projects with Israeli artist Shye Ben Tzur and the Rajasthan Express, a group of very talented Rajasthani musicians. They presented tracks off their self-titled and highly-praised 2015 album. The group brought their traditional music to a large, dark stage, transforming the opening set into a fresh celebration of international culture.
The SHOW
The band first walked on the stage surrounded by beams of light and a long storm of applause and cheers at around 9:00. Capturing every soul in the audience with the space and melodic track ‘Daydreaming’. Immersing instantly all spectators into their universe for all the 2hr:20mins that followed.
The Montreal crowd was already in love and enjoyed every second of the legendary live act. After all Radiohead remain one of the most mysterious and elusive band of all time. Their fans have unlimited respect for them and follow them from all around the world.
the event included all kinds of dedicated fans camping out for hours before the show under the hot summer sun, and a special shout out to the many moms and girls who camp out very early on the day
I’ve experienced very few artists that managed to catch such deep attention and focus from a crowd. Even at their outdoor Osheaga show, Radiohead got near breathless silence through all of their quieter more obscure songs ! The same respect and fascination was shown by the crowd last Monday night ! Thom Yorke does not need to talk to the crowd to mesmerize. His face expression, movements and timeless voice are pure creativity and couldn’t be more engaging
RADIOHEAD – Give Up The Ghost [4k] Live @ Bell Centre Montreal
The British band covered songs from their last album ‘A Moon Shaped Pool’ but also played songs from all other albums since O.K computer (1997) – (at the exception of Amnesiac (2001).
The Montreal audience was even blessed with 6 songs from the fantastic ‘In Rainbows’. One of the very personal Radiohead albums, with the singer describing most of it as his version of “seduction songs.
Radiohead selected songs from across their vast and ecletic discography. Leaving a few classic behind, but overall giving a show that touched all of their style. The track “Everything In Its Right Place,” was flirting a bit on the electronic side then switching straight to rock groove with ‘Lotus Flower’. The night then got even more intimate when Yorke sat at the piano to perform the seductive and emotional ‘Videotape’. Followed by the melodic masterpiece ‘No suprise’.
The lead singer showed his skill over all instruments, jumping from from electric and acoustic guitar, to keyboard, piano and tambourine. The standing ovations kept rising during the encores, which began with ‘Bodysnatchers’ , and the crowd pleasing ’’House of Cards’’. They finally ended up the night stunning the crowd with the much awaited ‘’Karma Police ‘’.
