Did you know Apple will sell its 2 billionth iPhone in 2020? Who would’ve thought that 13 years after introducing its first iPhone, Apple and the smartphone industry would change so quickly?

With every new iPhone, new changes are introduced to it. Sometimes it’s hard to keep up with these changes and many people don’t even know about all of the cool features iPhones have.

There are a lot of cool iPhone tips and tricks. Keep reading to learn some of our favorites!

Say goodbye to disruptions from spammers

Everyone hates being interrupted or bothered by spam calls. While this tip won’t stop spammers from calling you, it can stop them from disturbing you when you’re busy.

You can send unknown calls directly to voicemail and check back later to see if these were indeed from spam numbers. To turn on this feature, simply:

  • Go into your phone’s settings
  • Click on Phone
  • Scroll down and click on Silence Unknown Callers

Receive flashing light notifications

One of the best iPhone hacks is using the camera flash to receive notifications. When this feature is on, the flash will blink on and off when your phone receives a text, email, or call. This way you won’t have to look at your phone or listen out for sound alerts.

This accessibility feature was made for the hard of hearing and deaf communities but can be used by anyone who finds it easier to manage. To use this feature:

  • Go to your phone’s settings
  • Go to General
  • Then Accessibility
  • Click on Audio/Visual
  • And finally, click on LED Flash for Alerts

Timed Music Playing

Have you ever wanted to play some relaxing music before bed but worried that your phone would die if you fell asleep and left it playing all night? That problem now has a solution! You can actually set your phone’s timer to stop playing your music at the time you choose.

To turn on this feature for your iPhone:

  • Select the Clock app
  • Click on Timer
  • Then on When Timer Ends
  • Scroll down to Stop Playing

You can then choose how much time you want your music to play, and when the timer ends, the music will turn off. This feature works with Apple Music and Spotify as well.

A handy tape measure on your iphone

While this isn’t one of the new iPhone tricks, it’s one that not everyone knows. iPhones come with a Measure app that basically turns your phone into a tape measure. This comes in handy when you can’t find an old fashioned measuring tape in your toolbox or you simply don’t have one.

Another tip is that you can use the Measure app as a level, too. You can use your iPhone to help you hang up picture frames!

A Hotspot Anywhere You Go

WiFi is pretty much available anywhere you go these days. There are some places, though, where it’s surprisingly unavailable. This is where a hotspot comes into play.

A hotspot is a feature that allows you to give WiFi to other devices. Let’s say you need to use your MacBook on the bus and it doesn’t have any WiFi. This is where you can use your phone as a hotspot.

Learning how to setup a hotspot on iPhone is simple! To use this feature:

  • Go to settings
  • Click on Personal Hotspot
  • Then click on Allow Others to Join

Dark Mode for the Tired Eyes

One of the greatest iOS tips and tricks would have to be the dark mode! This mode switches the menus on your phone from a white background to a gray/black one.

This feature is great to use at night or in low light to reduce the strain on your eyes. Dark mode is also incredibly helpful to individuals who are colorblind.

You can switch on dark mode manually or set it to automatically turn on at a specific time each day; the Sunset to Sunrise setting is a great option. To use this feature:

  • Go to settings
  • Click on Display & Brightness
  • Click on Automatic
  • Then choose Options to customize a dark mode schedule

Snap a Picture With the Volume Button

Capturing all the great moments has become even easier with iPhones. As the camera quality has improved on the iPhone, more people are using their phones instead of purchasing other cameras to capture those beautiful memories.

Anyone can take professional quality pictures on their iPhone and now there’s an even easier way to take them. All you have to do is open your camera app and click the volume up button. Some of the newer iPhone models can capture photos with the volume down button as well.

Shake Your Phone to Erase Text

We all make mistakes, especially when typing. When writing a long text on your phone, instead of clicking the delete button on your keyboard, all you have to do is shake your phone.

A popup will ask you if want to undo typing or cancel and you click on what you want! If you want the text you wrote back, you just have to shake your phone again to redo the typing.

If you don’t have this feature turned on, all you have to do is:

  • Go to settings
  • Click on Accessibility
  • Then on Touch
  • Scroll down and turn on Shake to Undo

Correct Calculations

Of all the Apple iPhone tips out there, this is one many people never know about! Entering the incorrect number on your calculator app can cause some stress because you have to start all over again.

This cool trick lets you correct your mistake without having to start the calculation over again. All you have to do is swipe to the left or right and it’ll delete the incorrect number that you just typed.

Share Audio With Friends

Remember when you’d share one of your headphones with a friend to listen to a song or watch a video on your phone together? Well, now you can listen to that song or watch that video together without having to share AirPods.

All you have to do is pair your friend’s AirPods to your iPhone. This also works with wireless Beats headphones. To use this feature:

  • Click on the AirPlay icon
  • Click Share audio
  • Hold your friend’s open AirPods case near your phone
  • And click Share Audio on your screen
