Most Christmassy city list in Canada – It is that time of year again, when preparations for Christmas festivities are in full flow all across the land. And with it, the return of a recurring debate: which Canadian city does Christmas best? Well, thanks to new research released today, we may at last know the answer.
Keen to solve the puzzle, the insights team at PartyCasino carried out an in-depth analysis of several Instagram hashtags, which helped the online entertainment firm determine where the most Christmas fun is to be had in Canada.
Topping the table was Toronto, with the city generating the highest number of Instagram posts with hashtags dedicated to winter (14,987) and Christmas (5,144). Additionally, the Christmas market held in Ontario’s capital was more popular than those in other cities.
In second and third most Christmassy city list in Canada were Montreal and Vancouver respectively; #Montrealwinter was used more than 9,800 times, whilst #Montrealchristmas led to just shy of 800 posts on the popular image-sharing platform.
And if you are wondering how our country’s capital fared, well it is fair to say there is room for improvement. When considering other factors such as Santa parades, Christmas lights or pop-up ice rinks, the team at PartyCasino claims Ottawa only has the sixth-highest odds of being visited by Santa this year, with Toronto once again leading the way.
On the other end of the spectrum, the likes of Quebec City, Edmonton, Newfoundland, Niagara Falls and Saskatoon generated the least Christmas-related posts on Instagram.
