Lyric Theatre Singers – The most popular songs from different periods in the history of Broadway musicals will return to Montreal audiences in the voices and performances of the Lyric Theatre Singers this coming month of June. The show titled “Journey to Broadway” will include selections from the plays “Anastasia,” “Chicago,” “Once on This Island,” “Company,” “Rent,” “Titanic,” Waitress,” the 2017 Tony Award-winning “Dear Evan Hansen.” Timeless songs penned by Rogers and Hammerstein, Rodgers and Hart, Kander and Ebb, Cole Porter, and many others, will be part of the repertoire.

The show will be directed by Bob Bachelor and Cathy Burns. Bachelor will also be the musical director with Chris Barillaro, they will be supported by Guest Choreographer Jonathan Patterson, Piano Accompanist Benjamin Kwong, Lighting Design Amber Hood, Sound Design Rob Denton, Costume Design Karen Pearce, and Stage Manager Adrian Smith.

This entirely new musical theatre revue, created by directors Bachelor and Burns, features forty performers and five musicians performing a selection of Broadway’s most memorable songs.
Regarding the performers, the musical director said: “Our cast members possess a wide range of talents and abilities that we consider when shaping the show.” To which Cathy Burns added: “With every passing year we see how the Singers have grown and developed, giving us more and more to work with for each annual Broadway revue.”

Besides being a group with a successful artistic trajectory, The Lyric Theatre Singers also distinguishes for the multicultural composition of the group: “current performers have come from such countries as Australia, Egypt, France, Mexico, Morocco, Taiwan, and the United States.”
The Lyric Theatre Singers –a company well known for its Christmas concerts every year– will be presenting Journey to Broadway at Concordia University’s DB Clarke Theatre, on June 14, 15, and 16.
