Top 10 best concerts in MTL this week – Jazz Fest

Montreal Hosted the unique Francofolie’s festival last week at Place-des-arts, and now it’s time for the famous Jazz Fest to take over Montreal and echo trought the city street.

With the Music scene being at one of the season’s highest peak, we know it can be hard and overwhelming to follow who’s performing for free and who’s worth paying the tickets price ! That why we came up with a list of the Best and Cheapest upcoming Concerts available this week !

June 19Th – Washed Out – 30$

Don’t miss you’r chance to dance Tonight at l’Astral with electronic grooves from Ernest Greene musical alter-ego, Washed out.  The American artist first came to popularity when his song ” Feel it all Around” was picked as the theme song for the Fred Armisen/Carrie Brownstein TV show Portlandia, who was followed by a debut album.  He will be continuing his last year’s Mister Mellow tour that recently expanded to Montreal.

June 22nd – Tracyanne & Danny   â€“ 30 $

Tracyanne & Danny is a collaboration between Tracyanne Campbell from Camera Obscura and Danny Coughlan from Crybaby.  They will be presenting their new EP at the very special Ministère, on St-laurent St. this Friday .

Tracyanne hails from Glasgow, Scotland where Danny is based in Bristol, England. They are not a diverting curio or a wee stop on the road to someplace else. It is a shared artistic aesthetic, forged over time. They have figured out how to fit round each other and work together, creating a rewarding musical synergy.

June 26th – Chad Valley – Quai des Brumes – 14 $

The English Eletronic artist and singer Hugo Manuel, better known by his stage name Chad Valley, will be presenting is most recent CD, Imaginary Music at the amazing and underground Quai des Brumes. He has also released two EPs, various singles and three full-length albums, ‘Young Hunger’, ‘Entirely New Blue’ who have been used in many Hollywood movies. This concert is most definitely an underprice show for such a talented artist !

June 26 and 27th – Charlotte Gainsbourg  – 62 $

In her major Festival debut, the internationally renowned actress and singer brings us Rest, the most personal album of her career, featuring the eponymous single co-written with Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo, one half of electrifying duo Daft-Punk. The Female artist of the year at the 2018 Victoire de la Musique, arrives to charm us with her angelic voice and powerful electronic beats at the Mtelus for two nights.

June 27th – Old Sea Brigade + Pierce Brothers –   15 $

Joined by the Pierce Brothers, this indie band is guarantee to make you feel fresh, joyful and happy. Playing at le Petit campus together for only 15 $ this amazing combo is definitely worth checking out.

June 28th – Simon Kearney – 10$

Quebecois Simon Kearney will be playing an intimate show at l‘Escrogriffe Bar to perform his new music. This very talented Francophone artist have gifted us with many great new grooves inspired by soul and Rock’n’Roll, sometime even adding touch of the 60’s and 70’s musical era.

June 28th – DumbFounddead – 24$

Also known as Jonathan Park, DFD, or just plain Dumb, rapper Dumbfoundead delivers his comedic rhymes in an effortless style, a combination that served him well while on the MC battle circuit.

Born in Argentina but raised in the Koreatown neighborhood of Los Angeles, Dumbfoundead first made his name by battling MCs on the Grind Time Now battle circuit and suffering only one loss to rapper the Saurus. He made his official debut on album in 2011 when he released DFD on his own Dumbfoundead label.

It’s a first Festival visit for Metronomy, the outstanding group celebrated for their refreshingly dance-tastic electro-pop sound. The only thing left to do is surrender to their groove because this band will blow you’r mind at the MTelus
