Winnipeg’s Bold Commerce announces new PayPal integrations

Bold Commerce has built on its existing long-standing relationship with financial services platform PayPal. The firm has announced that small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Canada currently using its OpenCart and Gravity Forms solutions will benefit from the integration of PayPal’s full payments suite. This includes digital wallets, Venmo, Fastlane, as well as its Buy Now Pay Later options.

Bold Commerce is on a mission to tailor back-end payment experiences for retailers

The move is part of Bold Commerce’s ambition to give online retailers the option to tailor their checkout on any e-commerce platform to suit their target demographic. OpenCart and Gravity Forms incorporate pre-built tools for all kinds of e-commerce tasks, ranging from shipping to accounts.

E-commerce is an increasingly important lifeline for SMEs. It’s an opportunity for smaller retailers to reach out to a wider customer base, without requiring substantial marketing budgets, resources and workforce expansion to handle transactions. Casey Gannon, vice-president of technology partnerships at Bold Commerce, believes payment flexibility is “critical” to a frictionless online shopping experience. Bold’s latest tie-up with PayPal makes it possible for even the smallest online retailers to accommodate the needs of their customers.

PayPal has firmly established itself as one of the world’s leading online payment processing services, alongside the likes of Stripe and Square. Its trusted gateway makes it easier and cheaper to send and receive payments, both for consumers and businesses alike. PayPal’s innovations make it easier for Canadians to spend their money online. Its One Click functionality has recently been adopted by CA-licensed real cash online casino site, Betano, adding to its seven alternative deposit and withdrawal options.

Bold Commerce teams up with Wink to improve the security of its consumer authentication

Aside from PayPal, Bold Commerce has also joined forces with Texan payments platform, Wink. The platform empowers online businesses and organizations to utilize facial and voice recognition-based multi-factor authentication.

Online retailers in Canada can now use Bold Checkout with Wink. They can authenticate their customers using voice and facial recognition via smartphone cameras or in-store terminals where a high-street presence exists. A shopper only needs to be verified once for them to be signed in to their customer account and access information like delivery preferences, customer loyalty promotions, offers and preferred payment methods.

It’s fair to say that Bold Commerce has been one of the fastest-growing Manitoba fintech start-ups in recent years. In its infancy, its founders sealed Series A funding from Round13 Capital and Whitecap Venture Partners to the tune of CA$22 million and they continue to gain momentum.

What started out as an app development business with a passion for enhancing underlying technology for online brands has since evolved into a company passionate about delivering a composable commerce stack for SMEs of all shapes and sizes, in Canada and beyond. Bold Commerce is now said to be entrusted by major omnichannel retailers including Harry Rosen, Staples Canada and Vera Bradley to help them overcome the limitations of their e-commerce platforms, revolutionizing checkout conversion rates in the process.
