Quebec has announced that they will start to distribute vaccine passports to prove you have taken a COVID-19 vaccine. The passport will be a digital one on your smart phone.
Health Minister Christian Dubé said, “the QR code, which will replace the paper document Quebecers have been receiving after their COVID-19 vaccine. The QR code is not the digital passport but the first step towards towards the government issuing one.”

The COVID-19 vaccine digital passport will be used for going to work, entering restaurants, travelling and other events. It will be used to keep Quebecers safer.
Starting this Thursday if you receive the COVID-19 vaccine you will be given a digital QR code instead of a piece of paper saying you received the vaccine. A QR code is barcode that is scanned by any smartphone using an app and it will give certain information on when you received the vaccine and what kind you were administered.
Quebec Health Minister Christian Dubé says, ” as an example restaurants will be asking for proof that you received the vaccine and the QR code is maybe a good idea.
Canada Public Health Director Horacio Arrude said, is department is studying the issue closely, and will make a recommendation to the Canadian government about whether to go ahead with a digital passport system, and if so, how it could be used.”
“We want to do a good analysis given the ethical issues, among others. I think it could have a certain utility. We are not saying no, we are saying we have to look at it,” added Public Health Director Horacio Arrude.
