MONTREAL, January 26, 2026 — As Montrealers know, this is par for the course. It is called winter. But Environment and Climate Change Canada is giving the heads-up that more snow is headed our way, up to 10 cm, falling at a rate of 1 – 2 cm per hour, affecting rush-hour drivetime. /It may not be the record snowfall that descended on parts of southern Ontario yesterday, but it is still cause for concern in terms of getting around the city.

ECCC says additional snowfall accumulations of 5 to 10 centimetres today until this evening Additional information:

Snowfall rates of 1 to 2 centimetres per hour are expected today. Powdery snow will be easily carried by winds, resulting in locally reduced visibilities. Cold temperatures combined with snow will make surfaces slippery. There may be a significant impact on rush hour traffic.

Allow extra time for travel. Snowfall warnings are issued when significant impacts are expected due to snowfall accumulations. Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada.

To report severe weather, send an email to QCstorm@ec.gc.ca or post reports on X using #QCStorm. For more information about the alerting program, please visit: Colour-coded Weather Alerts.
