Quebec City’s Festival Carrefour Announces First Four Shows for 2026 Edition

Festival Carrefour announces first four shows, tickets on sale

The Festival Carrefour International de Théâtre has just provided a sneak peek of its 2026 program, which runs from May 26 to June 13, 2026. They have unveiled four of the shows and tickets are already on sale.

The selection includes one Quebec creation and three international works, marking a first for the Carrefour with the inclusion of a Chilean production.

The First Four Shows

  1. SAÏGON(France) | Caroline Guiela Nguyen
    • Dates: June 11, 12, 135
    • Description: This moving choral work explores themes of love, family, friendships, and exile. The story travels between Vietnam in 1956 and France in 1996, set within the same hyperrealistic Vietnamese restaurant stage space. The production has previously toured triumphantly in over a dozen countries.
    • Director: Caroline Guiela Nguyen, a major figure in contemporary theatre and the director of the Théâtre National de Strasbourg since 2023.
  2. VAMPYR(Chile) | Manuela Infante
    • Dates: June 3, 4
    • Description: Described as an “ecogothic” satire, the show takes the form of a mockumentary about the impact of wind turbines on an endangered bat population. The figure of the vampire serves as a metaphor for humanity’s “insatiable thirst for resources” in a world perpetuating exploitation under a green economy.11
    • Director: Manuela Infante is considered one of the most influential voices in contemporary Latin American theatre.
  3. VISAGES(Canada) | Alexia Bürger
    • Dates: June 9, 10, 11
    • Description: A new creation that assembles a “fresco” of personal stories, raising questions about our relationship with the face: “Is it a mask or a mirror?”. The narratives include meeting a perfect doppelgänger of Vladimir Putin who is a fervent defender of the Ukrainian cause, and an exploration of a man suffering from a disease that deforms the faces of his loved ones.
    • Cast: Interpreted by Isabelle Brouillette, Sophie Cadieux, Etienne Lou, Marie-Thé Morin, and Anne-Marie Olivier.
    • Playwright: Alexia Bürger is a prominent figure on the Quebec theatre scene.
  4. LETTRES NON-ÉCRITES(France) | David Geselson
    • Dates: June 2, 3, 4
    • Description: Presented for the first time in Canada, this intimate and refined work is based on over 400 anonymous letters collected from individuals who wanted to write a letter but never did. The project includes letters gathered from Quebec City citizens. The stories continuously transform the show, making each performance unique.
    • Author: David Geselson is also an actor and director.
