Canada, one of the greatest countries in the world has no high-speed train. With all our land and resources we unfortunately still have a train system from the 1970’s. A high speed rail system has been talked about for decades to link Montreal and Toronto. Governments have promised from time to time in campaigns but nothing has ever materialized.

How would a Canadian high-speed train help?
According to the CBC article written a few days ago, More than half of Canada’s population lives along the corridor between Quebec City and Windsor, Ont., which some rail proponents hope is eventually included in the route.
Research from Japan suggests high-speed rail can help ease the cost of housing and congestion on the roads, by making it easier to live further from urban centres.

Canadian high-speed train cost?
According to the federal government reports the cost of the high-speed train would be in upwards of $80 billion. However experts in the field say more like $120 billion.
The high-speed train would link Quebec city to Toronto stopping in Montreal, Ottawa, Smith Falls and Peterborough.
What are your thoughts on this and do you think it will really happen?
