Quebec introduces new online French learning platform for beginners

New online French learning program in Quebec

The Ministère de l’Immigration, de la Francisation et de l’Intégration is diversifying its Francisation Québec offer with the addition of an online learning resource for beginners.

This platform, accessible for free at francais-enligne.quebec, enables adults living in Québec to discover the French language, without delay, in a flexible and autonomous fashion.

The content represents about 25 hours of self-learning for levels 1 and 2 of Québec’s French-language competency level scale, the Échelle québécoise des niveaux de compétence en français (PDF 4.94 Mb).

These introductory activities, which complement in-class and workplace francization, use everyday scenarios: how to greet others, introduce yourself, ask for information, etc. The experience is enriched with videos and animations, an audiovisual glossary and exercises to practise pronunciation as well as oral and written understanding, with feedback.

These first two modules were developed by the Ministère’s teaching and learning team in partnership with the Société de formation à distance des centres de services scolaires et des commissions scolaires du Québec (SOFAD), specialized in techno-pedagogy.
