The Canadian Grand Prix – All You Need To Know

Formula 1 Canadian Grand Prix

The Canadian Grand Prix is just over a week away and the excitement is building as the Drivers Championship hots up and more points are up for grabs.

The Grand Prix in Canada never fails to disappoint and once again we’ll expect another thriller and a race which could be a real marker in the race for the Drivers Championship.

Below you’ll find all you need to know about the race and who are the favourites to win.

When & Where Is The Canadian Grand Prix?

The Canadian Grand Prix gets underway on June 7 with qualifying with the race itself taking place on June 9 in Montreal.

The Gilles Villeneuve Circuit has long been home to the race and across 70 laps a winner will be crowned champion.

20 drivers will compete, with qualifying times dictating their start positions.

Who are the favourites?

Sportsbooks are already deciding who they fancy to win the race and as you’d probably expect, Championship leader Lewis Hamilton is a clear favourite.

You’ll find huge range of sportsbooks available to bet on the Canadian Grand Prix, with https://www.onlinesportbetting.ca/bookmakers highlighting a large number.

Most have Hamilton priced as +125 favourite, with his Mercedes teammate just behind him at +250.

Sebastian Vettel is another who will be among the pack, having won the race last year. He’s priced at +400, while outsiders are Charles Leclerc and Max Verstappen are also worth keeping an eye on.

A full list of favourites can be found below:

Lewis Hamilton: +125

Valtteri Bottas: +250

Sebastian Vettel: +400

Charles Leclerc: +450

Max Verstappen: +2000

Pierre Gasly: +15000

Previous Winners Of The Canadian Grand Prix

Last year saw Vettel lead the charge and pick up his second title. Before that, favourite Hamilton had won three on the bounce and looks all set to do so again.

Michael Schumacher has won the most Canadian Grand Prix titles with seven, a record which Hamilton can match if he wins the 2019 edition.

It’s been over 40 years since a Canadian last won the race, which Gilles Villeneuve won for Ferrari back in 1978.

How Can I Watch The Canadian Grand Prix?

The Canadian Grand Prix will be broadcast to a global audience with RDS and TSN being the broadcasters in Canada.

You can also stream the event via F1 TV with extensive build up and practise laps also available to watch.
