Montreal Comic book fans, rejoice! On May 7, Free Comic Book Day returns to Montreal. For one day only, the best specialty comic book stores in the city will invite fans to discover and take-home complimentary issues of exciting new titles, selected by the top comic book publishers in North America.

This wildly popular event, celebrated every year on the first Saturday of May, is one of the most joyful traditions of the sequential art universe. “If you love comics, you will find great books for every taste and age,” announced Alex La Prova, co-owner of Capitaine Québec, Montreal’s famous comic book shop. “The free titles usually cover every genre imaginable, from superheroes to manga, horror, and kids’ comics.”
Each year, Capitaine Québec ups the ante and sweetens the event with irresistible limited offers on favourite books. “It is definitely a dream day for collectors to visit the store,” added Oscar Yazedjian, Alex’s partner. “The specials will be a surprise, but we can guarantee that there will be something good for everyone.”
Capitaine Québec is the only specialty comic book shop in the heart of downtown Montreal. Located at 1837, Ste-Catherine Street West, this comic book lovers’ paradise carries a massive selection of monthly issues, trade paperbacks, hardcover editions, independent graphic novels, toys and rare collectibles. Co-owners, Alex and Oscar, are also the adventurous co-founders of Montreal Comiccon, which will return to Palais Des Congrès on July 8-10, 2022, and bring together again tens of thousands of devoted fantasy fiction fans after a two-year pandemic hiatus.
