Montréal Passion Vin went virtual for its 19th edition raising money for Hôpital maisonneuve-Rosemont

Montréal Passion Vin

Given the exceptional context, the 19th edition of the Montréal Passion Vin benefit event was virtual. The unique event raised $435,190 net. Added to the $133,004 raised during the À Votre Santé! event on Thursday, November 12, it is a total of $568,194 net that will be donated to the Hôpital Maisonneuve-Rosemont (HMR) Foundation and its Together for the Hôpital Maisonneuve-Rosemont Fund, created to help the HMR and its teams deal with the pandemic as well as future challenges.

Montréal Passion Vin – A prestigious wine tasting event

Sébastien Benoît and renowned sommelier Véronique Rivest hosted this special edition for which participants were able to purchase a tasting pack containing four wines—tasted during the event—that have marked the already long history of Montréal Passion Vin. Guests also had the opportunity to bid, as always, on silent and live auctions featuring great prizes.

“For 19 years, Montréal Passion Vin has been a reference for all wine enthusiasts. The success and renown of such an event relies on the generosity and commitment of many people. Thanks to the great family of the Hôpital Maisonneuve-Rosemont Foundation (participants, volunteers, partners, winemakers) who answered the call, this year is no exception to the rule. We can only rejoice in this outpouring of generosity and solidarity,” saidPierre Nelis, Chairman of the Board, HMR Foundation.

Standing together in partnership and solidarity

The HMR Foundation warmly thanks its presenting partner, the SAQ, and its major donor partner, the National Bank – Private Banking 1859.

“Once again this year, and especially under the current circumstances, the SAQ was eager to support Montréal Passion Vin by continuing to put its passion for wine and its many contacts at the service of such a worthy cause. Knowing that the Hôpital Maisonneuve-Rosemont has been on the front line since the beginning of the pandemic and that health related needs keep on increasing, it was only natural for us to continue to stand in solidarity with the Foundation and to give the Hospital the means to achieve its mission,” said Catherine Dagenais, President and Chief Executive Officer of the Société des alcools du Québec.

It should be noted that the benefit event is organized by a committee of leading people from the business community chaired by Jean-Philippe Beauvais, Vice-President Operations, Plaisirs Gastronomiques, alongside the HMR Foundation. For this year’s edition, and as is the tradition, the HMR Foundation was honoured with the presence, through a video link, of representatives from the following wine houses: Veuve Clicquot, represented by its cellar master, Didier MariottiLouis-Latour, by Louis-Fabrice Latour; Marchesi Antinori, by Alessia Antinori, vice-president of Marchesi Antinori and the Château de Beaucastel, represented by Thomas Perrin, the man who is leading the winery  today.

About the Together for The HMR Fund

The Hôpital Maisonneuve-Rosemont is one of the institutions designated by the Quebec government to care for COVID-19 patients, while continuing to provide essential services to the most vulnerable people. Its teams performed greatly, but the pandemic has brought to light two realities the HMR is confronted with: its outdated installations and the great vulnerability of the population it serves.

As a result, the Hôpital Maisonneuve-Rosemont Foundation created the Together for the HMR Fund to provide the HMR with the resources needed to maintain excellence in care, research and teaching, which are at the heart of the Hospital’s ability to deal with the pandemic, and future challenges.

This fund will support, among other things:

  • The acquisition of advanced equipment and technologies;
  • The training of health care personnel;
  • Increased screening capacity.
