The Canadian Grand Prix has long been a highlight of the Formula 1 calendar. Each year, fans from around the world watch the sport’s finest drivers and teams battle it out on the iconic Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in Montreal. While race wins naturally garner more attention, the fastest lap times throughout the weekend also provide a glimpse into teams’ strategies.
A recent study conducted on behalf of Tooniebet, a Canadian sports and entertainment platform, analyzed the fastest lap times from the 2024 and 2025 Canadian Grand Prix races. The average lap times across two seasons reveal which teams have set the pace in Canada recently.
The Fastest Teams at the Canadian GP

According to the study, the following are the five fastest teams at the Canadian GP across 2024 and 2025:
1. Mercedes
Mercedes averaged the fastest average lap time across 2024 and 2025. The Silver Arrows clocked in at 74.572 seconds, which is 6% faster than the overall field average of 79.157 seconds. Their average lap time of 74.287 seconds in 2025 shows an impressive year-on-year improvement. At this year’s race in June, polesitter George Russell set the fastest lap time before clinching Mercedes’ first victory of the season, while Kimi Antonelli finished third.

Final Thoughts
Mercedes continue to maintain their edge in Canada, but McLaren and Aston Martin are quickly catching up. “This data highlights how competition at the Canadian Grand Prix is intensifying year after year,” a Tooniebet spokesperson said. As the 2025 season comes to a close, it will be interesting to see if these trends continue in Canada next year and whether any new teams can break into the top three.
