COVID-19 – Montreal closing Restaurants, malls and schools until May

COVID-19: Quebec

The Quebec government has announced that a new testing site for COVID-19 will open Monday March 23, 2020 with a testing capacity of more than 2,000 people daily.

  • Quebec schools will remain closed until May 1, 2020.
  • Quebec shopping Malls will be closed until May 1, 2020
  • Quebec restaurants will be closed until May 1, 2020
  • Quebec grocery stores, pharmacies and SAQ outlets will remain open with some restricted hours.
  • Hydro-Quebec will not be charging interest on over due accounts since Monday March 23, 2020
  • There have been five confirmed deaths due to COVID-19 and are now 181 confirmed cases in the province of Quebec.
  • If you think you have COVID-19 please call 1-877-644-4545, instead of #811
  • The Public health emergency act has banned all gatherings indoor or outdoor with more than 10 people.

The new testing site at Place de Festivals is open as of Monday March 23, 2020. You can arrive by foot or car. You must call for an appointment first. Please have one of the following symptoms:

  • Cough, fever or difficulty breathing
  • You have travelled outside of Canada in the last 14 days
  • You have come in contact with someone who was invected with COVID-19 and showed the symptoms.

The city of Montreal is setting up 30 screening stations that will operate from 8 am to 8 pm every day.

The site’s entracne is at the corner of de Maissonneuve Boulevard and St-Urbain Street

  • Patients will be triaged from their cars
  • all screenings will be done outdoors in large heated tents
  • You must present your RAMQ card or another piece of photo identification.
  • Please dress warmly as these stations will be outside
  • Results of these test can take up to three days
  • STM is asking not to take Public Transit for testing
