‘I Shop in the Pointe-Claire Village’ campaign – $20 is worth $30

Many businesses and stores have been facing unprecedented challenges since last March – and merchants of the Pointe-Claire Village are among them. If you have been down to the Village lately, you will have noticed numerous stores with their doors permanently shut, while others who survived and reopened are now seeing some foot traffic. However, the volume is not the same and it is hitting them hard – especially with the losses incurred over the past months. The ‘I Shop in the Pointe-Claire Village’ campaign was launched on August 4th and will run until September 4th – with the goal to encourage local businesses affected by the pandemic.

HOW IT WORKS: Gift certificates are available at participating village stores, to spend in any of them you choose. A certificate costs only $20, but is worth $30 towards merchandise or services. With each certificate sold, $20 will be donated to the West Island Community Shares organization (WICS), which in turn will donate part of the funds raised to AMCAL Family Services.  Basically, your $20 dollars goes a long way!

The campaign is a partnership between the Pointe-Claire Village Association, the Ville de Montreal, Desjardins, La Ruche, PME MTL West Island and the City of Pointe-Claire – aimed at encouraging shopping in the Pointe-Claire Village in an effort to revive the local economy affected by the COVID-19 crisis. Let’s stand united and support our local shops and boutiques to revive our economy after the forced break due to the pandemic  We encourage you to participate in large numbers, Mayor Belvedere said in a Press Release on Thursday.
