St. Patrick’s Society 186th annual luncheon – The Right Honourable Brian Mulroney, PC, CC GOQ, the 18th Prime Minister of Canada, will serve as the guest speaker for today’s St. Patrick’s Society 186th Annual Luncheon at the Le Centre Sheraton Montreal, 1201 Boulevard Rene-Levesque West.

Mr. Mulroney served as Prime Minister from 1984-1993 as leader of the Progressive Conservative Party of Canada. As Prime Minister, Mr. Mulroney and his government introduced the Goods and Services Tax and negotiated the Canada-U.S. Free Trade Agreement, His nearly 10 years as Prime Minister are remembered for leading Canada to build strong global relations, particularly with the United States and Presidents Ronald Reagan and George H.W. Bush.

Mr. Mulroney will be introduced by Hon. Jean Charest, Quebec’s 29th premier. In a 28-year political career, Mr. Charest also served as Canada’s deputy prime minister, leader of the Progressive Conservative Party of Canada, leader of the Quebec Liberal Party and was a powerful voice in the 1995 Quebec Referendum vote.

The St. Patrick’s Society is greatly honoured to have Mr. Mulroney and Mr. Charest at our luncheon,’’ said luncheon chairperson Carol McCormick. These two great Canadians have played pivotal roles in shaping our country and our province during not only their time in office, but as citizens.
