MONTREAL, September 24, 2026 – Instruments of Happiness, led by Tim Brady, has been creating one-of-a-kind musical events around the world for the past 10 years, bringing together 100 electric guitars in immersive performances in public spaces. The ensemble has presented major performances before thousands of spectators at the Montréal/Nouvelles Musiques Festival, the Festival International de Jazz de Montréal, Luminato, Modulus, Stratford, and Brisbane, Australia.
On Sunday, March 14, 2027, Tim Brady will present his new creation celebrating the 60th anniversary of the Beatles’ iconic Sgt. Pepper’s album, in a performance featuring 100 guitarists at the Grande Place at Complexe Desjardins. For this occasion, Instruments of Happiness is hoping to see more women join the group.
The ensemble welcomes a great diversity of guitarists – across all styles, ages, skill levels, and genders. However, women have historically been underrepresented in the world of electric guitar. The group hopes to help change this dynamic by launching a recruitment campaign specifically focused on including more women electric guitarists.

The campaign spokesperson is Daphnée Lesénéchal, a guitarist and composer who recently graduated in music from Concordia University. She performed with the 100 Guitars in 2025 and will be returning in 2027. Ms. Lesénéchal has given considerable thought to the place of women in the world of electric guitar — and in music more broadly — and she hopes to share her reflections with the public to encourage more women to play the instrument.
