Winter is *almost* over (and we are very much looking forward to it) but, even during the hibernation season, the Montreal restaurant scene stayed busy and numerous exciting new places opened for you to enjoy while waiting for spring. Here are 5 new restaurants to try this weekend.
Vinette
The group behind Joe Beef, Liverpool House and other hits finally opened their latest project, a small and intimate restaurant, Vinette. The menu of this new address mainly focuses on fish and sea food. Tucked behind restaurant Liverpool House, Vinette is much more than a pop up, serving its own food and wine menu, mostly natural wines and small seafood dishes. And because we love what the Joe Beef team does, we are certain we won’t be disappointed, again.
Jack Rouge
Jack Rouge resto-club, on Saint-Laurent boulevard and formerly known as La Porte Rouge/Jack Rose, partnered up with chef Jean-Philippe Saint-Denis (formerly at Kitchen Galerie Poisson) to jazz up the food offer at the revamped version of this Montreal nightlight institution. Offering a renewed classic bistro menu, inspired by chef’s classics and inspirations, it is now possible to enjoy a great dinner followed by a night of drinks, dance and fun at the exact same spot. Who said the “supperclub” was dead?
Osteria MKT
Osteria MKT is the 2.0 version of MKT Restaurant, which recently closed after 5 years downtown to reopen in a new location with a revamped concept. The previous restaurant, MKT Restaurant, was serving a seasonal cuisine while Osteria MKT goes a little further by adding a touch of Italian traditions to its menu. Chef Marcel Machado is still offering his legendary signature dishes like “pici alla contadina” but also some fresh new items that are perfect for a dinner date, a corporate event or a 5 a 7 in this spectacular new space of Robert-Bourassa boulevard.
Perles and Paddock : Cafe
Beloved restaurant Perles and Paddock of Griffintown decided to use their spectacular space (they opened in an old garage and their unique decor caught the attention of the “Bar & Restaurant Design Awards” in London) for a “new restaurant concept” during the day : a coffee shop. Now open all day/evening, it is possible to enjoy Perles and Paddock whenever we want. Serving specialty coffees (Zab Roasters), pastries, sandwiches and salads from morning to late afternoon, P&P goes back to its original concept, a sit down restaurant, at night.
Giulietta
Giulietta is the first restaurant of businessman Vincent Guzzo (with restaurateur Francis Rodrigue). The concept started in 2018 as a congenial space where friends, families, and corporate gatherings would go to enjoy great food, great wine and warm hospitality. Recently, a second location of Giulietta Pizza opened in Marche Central, close to the Guzzo movie theatre, for families and friends to enjoy a traditional Napolitean pizza night before and/or after a movie night.
