COVID-19: Côte Saint-Luc Mayor declares State of Emergency after 4 people test positive

Today Côte Saint-Luc Mayor declares State of Emergency after four people have tested positive with the COVID-19 virus.

Côte Saint-Luc Mayor Mitchell Brownstein has urged the residents to please self-isolate. Mayor Brownstein also added, “I’m worried his city could become the ‘epicentre’ of the COVID-19 virus in Quebec.”

Mayor Brownstein also said, “the Province of Quebec should consider putting Côte Saint-Luc in lockdown.”

Three of the four infected people attended Congregation Beth Chabad community centre and synagogue. The fourth person was attending a wedding at the Shaar Hashomayim syngogue on March 12.

Beth Chabad is asking all congregants who where at the synagogue on or before March 14 to place themselves in self-isolation.

Public officials have also contacted the synagogue (located in adjacent Westmount), where the fourth person was attending.

The city enacted state of emergency measures this past Tuesday. Public Health and the Montreal police can now shut don events of over 10 people.
