COVID-19 – New rules for shoppers as Quebec government cracks down on crowds

New rules for shoppers as Quebec government cracks

The Quebec government has handed out new guide lines for shoppers this holiday season due to the rise of COVID-19 in and around Quebec. The Quebec government will be tightening the screws on the number of shoppers allowed in stores and malls.

The Deputy Premier Geneviève Guilbault told the public today she wants Quebecers to be able to shop for loved ones in a safe environment.

The new Quebec retail rules for the holidays:

  • A certain amount of shoppers allowed in the retail location depending on the stores square footage. The number of shoppers will be marked on the outside of the retail store or mall.
  • Social distancing signs must be displayed showing the rules of shoppers.
  • arrows and signs must be shown to show how shoppers navigate through the store or mall.

The Quebec province recorded a record number of new cases today at 1,514 and 43 deaths. This is the highest amount to date.

Stores and mall that do not show the proper signage and enforce restrictions may be fined up to $6,000
