What is reopening in the Montreal Area and Province on Monday

Open and Closed in Montreal

After seeing some public health restrictions lifted in most of Quebec, another stage of reopening begins in the province as of Monday June 22nd – including the Greater Montreal area, Joliette and l’Epiphanie regions. Public health directives must be respected, including physical distancing measures and handwashing. As well, health officials strongly recommend that masks be worn by those who choose to go into any of the stores or businesses. You may find some places requiring the wearing of a facemask mandatory in order to enter their establishments, and they may limit the number of people allowed in at a time.

Here is a list of what will be allowed to reopen or resume activities, as well as the directives that must be respected (*Note that some places may choose not to reopen at this time or that some businesses have closed permanently):

– These areas can now begin holding indoor visits, up to 10 people – from a maximum of 3 households only.

– Restaurants can reopen, including food courts in shopping malls – with public health directives respected. (*Restaurants must be set up to allow two metres of physical distance between customers, unless they occupy the same private residence or there is a physical barrier that limits contagion).

– Cinemas, theatres, concert halls and other indoor venues may reopen – maximum of 50 clients.

– Houses of worship across Quebec may resume services – maximum of 50 congregants.

– Gyms, indoor pools, arenas and public and private beaches – with public health directives respected.

– Day camps may also open.

Be safe, be healthy – and be aware that it is up to everyone to respect the directives, mandatory or not – in order to continue slowing the spread of the Covid-19 virus that has upset all our lives in many ways, so that we may continue to move forward.
