#StayAtHomeChallenge – Thierry Henry’s Montreal Impact squad have been getting creative in the midst of the quarantine enforced due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Major League Soccer announced on Thursday (via Montreal Impact’s official website) that the season will be postponed for eight weeks until mid-May. The sports betting apps in the USA, such as Pointsbet, have no odds set on the events as well. This falls in conjunction with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s directive to postpone any gatherings of 50 or more people during this period.
Not content with sitting on their laurels at home, a host of Impact stars joined in the #StayAtHomeChallenge and showcased their juggling skills with a roll of toilet paper.
The campaign only started in February but was brought to an abrupt halt following the spread of COVID-19, which has thus far resulted in more than 10,000 deaths worldwide.
Players from National Hockey League outfit Montreal Candiens also joined in on the action, while some participants opted to put an American football (literal) spin on their efforts.
Even our professional athletes have been forced to join the masses in working from home in an effort to lessen the risk of the coronavirus.
Montreal Impact were scheduled to play two games at the Stade Saputo during the new eight-week hiatus on April 18 and May 2—against Houston Dynamo and Orlando City, respectively—both of which will be played at a later date yet to be decided.
Henrys side beat the New England Revolution 2-1 in their season opener before drawing 2-2 away to FC Dallas, leaving them joint-second in the Eastern Conference behind Atlanta United.
