McGill star Seinet-Spaulding signed to Calgary

Sometimes, dreams do come true. It sounds very much like a cliche, but for native Montreal resident, Andrew Seinet-Spaulding, that’s definitely the case.

He was recently drafted to play in the CFL—specifically for the Calgary Stampeders.

Spaulding, who spent his younger years playing for The Spartans of Saint-Laurent and subsequently McGill University had a good head on his shoulders from the get-go and had this to say about the future when I last spoke to him before he was drafted to the illustrious CFL for another interview:

I think that the possibilities are there. I worked hard to be where I am today. I always dreamed about playing professional football. I am eligible for the next draft, so in the meantime, I’ll be working my hardest to be able to get picked.

Now, all these months later he has been signed with Canada’s professional league and the very same camp in which Dwayne The Rock Johnson actually played his pro-football after graduating from the University of Miami. And although Dwayne Johnson’s time there would be cut short, we’d say that Seinet’s career is merely just beginning … the pro part of it that is.

Seinet-Spaulding stands at six feet tall and just under three-hundred pounds, the young mans an impressive presence on the defensive end—specifically as a defensive tackle. As is stated on his McGill Athletics profile, he was only the third ever McGill player to earn the J.P. Metras Trophy. He completed his time at McGill with an impressive 80 career tackles, which happen to include 61 solos. He was then invited to the CFL Combines, but due to the Coronavirus Pandemic, that was put on hold unfortunately.

With an evidently impressive career thus far, we have no doubt that he can even make the leap to the NFL, which in essence is p[probably at the back of any kid’s mind that lacers up the cleats and grasps the pig skin for that 50 yard dash to glory. It was obviously the case from this young man and we’d say he’s well on his way there. We wish him luck and hope to see him wherever he envisions himself down the line. We’d say he more than deserves it.
