Visit France – France Health Pass introduced for future visitors and tourists

France Health Pass

France Health pass – Are you considering a future trip across the Atlantic – to France, in particular – and wondering what their safeguard initiatives are regarding COVID vaccinations before you visit Paris, the French Riviera, Provence, the French Alps or the Loire Valley?

In the wake of the vaccination pass system that the Quebec government recently announced that will go into effect starting September 1, the government of France has also announced a mandatory pass system as a means of vaccine recognition for international tourists who plan to visit France, as well as international travellers who live outside the European Union (EU) and are already in France.

France Health Pass

Called the France Health Pass, it was unveiled by Jean-Baptiste Lemoyne, the French Secretary of State to the Minister of Europe and Foreign Affairs, in charge of Tourism, French Nationals Living Abroad and the Francophonie. This pass has been already in effect for travellers who are coming from or going to France since July 21. This applies to places where cultural, sports and leisure activities take place at, as well as fairs and exhibitions that accept up to 50 people or more.

And as of August 9, the pass will be in effect for bars and restaurants – both indoors and outdoors – and modes of public transport used for long distance travel (i.e., buses, trains and airplanes). Starting September 30, the pass will be mandatory for teenagers between the ages of 12 and 17.

In a press release that was issued by Atout France, the French tourist development agency, it stated that for the France Health Pass, the ministry has set up a QR code in order to facilitate those tourists living outside the EU during their stay in the country and will be valid throughout the French territory. Potential foreign tourists to France can apply for the passport by going to the France diplomatic website (www.diplomatie.gouv.fr/en), in which all the necessary documentation can be found. This process is available only to those foreign tourists who live outside Europe who are already travelling within France or plans to visit the country before August 15. Those applicants who plan to arrive in France after that date will be considered at a later date.

France Atout also strongly recommended that prior to their trips, potential tourists and visitors consult the following websites in order to obtain the latest information about what’s happening in France and its current COVID situation: the COVID section of www.France.fr, the French embassy in Canada website (https://ca.ambafrance.org/-English- and the Canadian government website (https://voyage.gc.ca).
