You Won’t Believe What’s Happening in Saint-Sauveur This Summer: Dance Battles, Outdoor Movies, Live Music & More!
Every year, the Festival des Arts de Saint-Sauveur (Saint-Sauveur Arts Festival) offers the general public a range of free activities in the city and the forest.
Along the Dance Trails, strollers can enjoy three contemporary dance and music performances totalling around 60 minutes. El Gao Compagnie, Saxon Fraser, Zeugma Danse, Willem Sadler, Léo “Hit” Coupal and HORSE will be on hand in Saint-Sauveur’s Parc John-H.-Molson, while Léo “Hit” Coupal, Eva Kolarova, Danse 21+ and Zeugma Danse will be waiting for you in Sainte-Adèle’s Parc Claude-Henri Grignon. It’s free, but places are limited, and reservations are required.
At dusk, Dance Films under the stars will be shown in Parc Georges-Filion, courtesy of Desjardins and the Ville de Saint-Sauveur. Bring your chair and join us at Centre Stage on Thursday, July 24th. Nicholas Hytner’s film focuses on young people who come from all over the world to pursue their passion for dance at a renowned school that requires them to push their limits. On Thursday, July 31st, Jon M. Chu’s musical Wicked tells the story of a young woman born with green skin (Cynthia Erivo) and a popular, privileged student (Ariana Grande) who cross paths with the Wizard of Oz (Jeff Goldblum). Both movies will be shown in the French language.
Musical Fridays! (presented by Desjardins) will be held in Parc Georges-Filion, encouraging audience participation and great encounters with artists. On July 25 at 6 p.m., warm-hearted singer-songwriter ÉLAGE DIOUF, accompanied by three multi-instrumentalists, presents Loubess, a musical journey from Dakar to Montreal that’s sure to get you dancing. On August 1st at 6 p.m., the experienced musicians of the STRINGKATZ string quartet will perform well-known tunes ranging from the great classical repertoire to Piazzolla, Einaudi, Aerosmith and Led Zeppelin !

Thanks to the financial support of the Quebec government and the Ville de Saint-Sauveur, the Dancing Saturdays workshop-shows invite the public to join in the dance on the Scène Desjardins in Parc Georges-Filion. On July 26th, Dominic Desrochers and Jean-François Dumas of the traditional folk music group BON DÉBARRAS lead a jigging and podorythmy workshop (at 6 p.m.) and offer their new show Repères at 7 p.m., featuring collaborations in words (Joséphine Bacon, Gaston Miron, Simon Gauthier, Gilles Vigneault) and music (Michel Faubert, Cédric Dind-Lavoie). On August 2 at 6 p.m., learn the rudiments of Argentine tango with teachers from the Tango Club Rive-Nord school, then attend the RADIOTANGOshow, which adapts the great classics of the golden age of tango to an intimate formation: piano, violin, double bass, bandoneon and voice.
The ever-popular FASS Dance Battle (presented by Desjardins and La Presse) will be hosted by Bboyizm on the Scène Desjardins in Parc Georges-Filion on Sunday, July 27th, from 2 pm to 6 pm. Fifteen breakers and poppers from Quebec and Ontario will battle it out in a fiery tournament, competing with talent and energy to deliver spectacular performances.

Driven by the vibrant passion of his ancestors, Travis Knights has rhythm and swing to spare! Tap dancing, a source of wonder and infinite possibilities, is something he has etched on his heart. Trained from the age of 10 by Montreal
tap dancing queen Ethel Bruneau herself, he made his debut in 2000 as a lead dancer in the biopic
Bojangles , alongside two tap legends, Gregory Hines and Savion Glover. Since then, Travis Knights’ tap shoes have come a long way, thanks to eclectic collaborations. Surrounded by his band, he offers us an electrifying performance, a perfect osmosis between tap and live jazz.
