What is Montréal en Lumière 2019 all about?

Montreal en Lumière 2019 – A party for your tastebuds

Now in its 20th edition, MONTRÉAL EN LUMIÈRE, presented in collaboration with Bell, has proven that Montreal culinary art has nothing to envy of any other major city in the world. This year, a new gourmet committee was formed with, among others, Philippe Molle, Catherine Lessard, Élise Tastet and six other people passionate about fine dining. These lovers of the pleasures of the table contributed to the new gourmet orientation of the festival: Celebrate, feast, create… Montreal style! For the twentieth anniversary, everything has been done to satisfy every palate. All kinds of new features are on the menu — including the Quartier Gourmand, located at the Maison du Festival, in the heart of the Quartier des spectacles, as well as the Nuit Gourmande, an unusual event that will thrill gourmets! From February 21 to March 3, in partnership with our 45 participating Air France Finest Tables, including four that have been partners with us for 20 years—Au Petit Extra, La Chronique, Normand Laprise and Christine Lamarche—, MONTRÉAL EN LUMIÈRE will take you on a journey around the world… And to the heart of our world! A flavourful party to discover what’s cooking in kitchens here and elsewhere!

The Quartier Gourmand, Epicentre of Montreal Fine Dining

The Quartier Gourmand, truly the headquarters of fine dining during MONTRÉAL EN LUMIÈRE, will open its doors to festivalgoers, offering more than 45 fascinating activities, including more than 30 free ones. During the first weekend, from February 21 to 24, the Quartier Gourmand will showcase the theme of a journey around the world… And to the heart of our world! Come and enjoy soups from all over the world (Japan, Quebec, India, Portugal, Mexico); a soup – wine pairing will also be suggested by the SAQ. Come to the QUÉBEC MAPLE booth and try the four delicious MAPLE syrup colors! You will have the opportunity to explore the richness of producers of the Côte-Nord, to attend discussions with Philippe Molle, Josee Di Stasio or Kim Thúy, and to discover the world of edible seaweed harvester Antoine Nicolas. Do you know the milk from here? Enter the quiz to meet a producer and get a chance to win exchangeable treats at the kiosque grilled cheese et boissons lactees!

The second weekend of the festival, from February 28 to March 3, will be focusing on urban agriculture! Come and discover a modern henhouse or an urban mushroom farm. Do you know what is Buddha’s hand? Did you know that it grows in Quebec? O’Citrus will have answers for you at the Quartier Gourmand. The myths and realities of kombucha will be unveiled with RISE. Gourmet vegetarian food will be offered by Le Kitchen restaurant. Captivating, unique conferences to feed the body and the mind will be presented at L’Astral and Blumenthal with such special guests as Matty Matheson, Camille Becerra and Dan Giusti. Don’t miss it! Throughout the festival, the Bar ESKA will offer creative cocktails and other beverages based on its carbonated natural spring water. Come and discover the tasty beers of Brasseur de Montreal.
