Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced some great news today about the COVID-19 vaccine. Canada will be receiving several hundred thousand doses of the vaccine from Pfizer.
The first COVID-19 vaccines will be given to care givers, long-term residents.
The two dose system from Pfizer will be handed out by December 31, 2020 and the government will start a mass inoculation launch campaign which could take many months to complete.
Quebec, Alberta, Manitoba and Ontario will receive the first doses as these provinces try to deal with a large amount of deaths.
The COVID-19 doses will be delivered to 14 distribution centres throughout Canada and are equipped to store the vaccine at -80 C. Prime Minister Trudeau said, “This will make the distribution process incredibly complex.”
