Quebec Premier Francois Legault has just announced that the province will undergo a vaccine passport system within the next few weeks.
The introduction of the vaccine passport comes as a result of the drastic increase of COVID cases in Quebec, as well as the possibility of rising hospitalizations and deaths in the very near future.
Premier Legault added that the vaccine passport will enable the province to avoid any widespread closures that were the norm during the government’s response to the pandemic since its outbreak in March of 2020.
The premier also said that “people who made the effort to get their two doses should be able to live a somewhat normal life.”
Details of how the vaccination passport system will work are to be released at a later date.
Quebec Premier Francois Legault said he is also very aware of the fourth wave coming and the rising of COVID-19 cases. This has made the vaccine passport necessary.
Legault ended with, “People who have made the effort to get their second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine should be able to maintain some sort of normal life.”
