LADYFEST MONTREAL CELEBRATES 10 YEARS OF FEMME AND NON-BINARY COMEDY

MONTREAL, November 6, 2025 — Montreal’s beloved women-centred comedy festival, Ladyfest, returns this November for its 10th anniversary edition, spotlighting some of the funniest and most original femme and non-binary comedians in the city and beyond.

What began ten years ago as a weekend event at one venue with about a dozen acts has now blossomed into a week-long affair featuring more than 100 funny women at an array of venues. Founded to celebrate and elevate women (cis and trans) and non-binary performers, Ladyfest has become a cornerstone of Montreal’s independent comedy scene.

Female comics describe the festival as one-of-a-kind and essential, especially at a time when women in comedy are still being left out of many mainstream lineups – or being generated by artificial intelligence to make it seem like they’re included. The annual festival showcases stand-up, storytelling, improv, and sketch, providing an essential platform for performers who are often underrepresented in mainstream comedy spaces.

“Ladyfest is a magical festival. Stand-up comedy is often male-dominated, so it’s empowering to have a space that celebrates so many incredible femme comedians all in one place,” – Abby Stonehouse, comedian and podcaster.

Since its first edition, Ladyfest has built a vibrant and inclusive community, one that values collaboration over competition and gives emerging voices room to grow.

“Ladyfest Montreal was the first festival credit I received back in 2017. As a new permanent resident, the festival gave me a sense of creative belonging I hadn’t felt before,” – Sara Meleika, performance artist and Ladyfest Director.

This milestone year promises a packed lineup featuring some of Montreal’s brightest comedic talents. Ladyfest 2025 kicks off on November 24th, with multiple shows running throughout the city. A highlight of this festival is our Headlining show with Tranna Wintour and Rebecca Reed. Tranna was part of the first festival in 2015, and Ladyfest is so happy to have her on our 10th Anniversary. Full festival details and artist announcements will be shared on Ladyfest Montreal’s Facebook page.

Ladyfest organizers emphasize that they remain committed to creating opportunities, celebrating diverse voices, and strengthening Montreal’s comedy community, one laugh at a time.
