5 Refreshing summer drink ideas

summer drink ideas

Summer is the best time of year for many reasons: the warm weather, the sunshine, and the smell of barbecues. But one thing that always gets me feeling extra excited about summer is all the delicious drinks I can enjoy while sitting on my front porch or at a picnic table with friends. There are so many refreshing drinks available this time of year—from spring water to lemonade and from smoothies to iced coffee—that there’s no shortage of options for you to choose from. Whether you prefer fruity drinks or something a bit more sophisticated, there’s something out there that will make you feel like a kid all over again. Here are some of my favourite summer drink ideas.

1.   Watermelon Margarita

When you’re trying to stay hydrated this summer, you don’t want to feel like you’re drinking water—you want something that feels more like a treat. Enter the watermelon margarita! This drink is sweet and tart, with a little kick from the tequila. And it’s so easy to make: just muddle your watermelon (you can use any kind of melon, really), add tequila and lime juice, shake it up with ice, and serve over ice in a glass rimmed with salt.

2.   Strawberry Lemonade

If you’re looking for a refreshing drink to enjoy this summer, consider strawberry lemonade. It’s made with real fruit, so it’s healthier than other drinks that are full of artificial flavours and colours. And it tastes delicious!

Strawberry lemonade is also super easy to make: Just combine equal parts water and sugar in a bowl (or blender), add fresh strawberries, and then squeeze in some lemon juice. Pour the mixture into glasses over ice cubes, and voilà! You have your own homemade strawberry lemonade!

This recipe is perfect for kids or adults who love all things red, pink, and sweet—and who doesn’t? It’s also perfect for anyone who wants to cool off on hot summer days without having to spend a lot of money on commercial brands that contain additives like high-fructose corn syrup or aspartame (a chemical sweetener).

3.   Mint Julep

If you’re looking for a refreshing drink to enjoy while you’re out and about this summer, look no further than the mint julep. This classic cocktail is made with mint leaves, crushed ice, and bourbon or rye whisky. The original recipe calls for sugar syrup, but it’s easy enough to leave that out if you want to cut down on calories.

The most important part of making a mint julep is muddling the mint leaves with sugar and water in a julep cup or glass until they form a syrup. Then mix in bourbon or rye whiskey, along with crushed ice, and serve immediately. You can also add club soda if you want it to be less sweet.

Mint Juleps are delicious on their own, but they also go well with a meal because they’re so refreshing! Try one at your next picnic or cookout—you won’t regret it!

4.   Blueberry Mojito

If you’re looking for something light and fruity without the sugar overload, give our Blueberry Mojito a try! The blueberries add just enough sweetness without being too overpowering, so they make this drink perfect for any time of day. Plus, they’re full of antioxidants—so even though you might not think about it at first glance, this is actually a healthy drink!

5.   Pineapple Ginger Fizz

This drink is a great way to get your daily dose of vitamins and other nutrients while also giving you a quick, refreshing pick-me-up. The pineapple contains vitamin C and antioxidants, which help fight off free radicals that can cause premature aging. Ginger has anti-inflammatory properties that help relieve pain and promote blood circulation. It also helps with digestion and can reduce nausea. Lemon juice is excellent for skin health as it helps to prevent wrinkles, acne, and age spots. Mix all these ingredients together in a glass with ice cubes, add club soda or sparkling water (depending on how fizzy you like your drink) and garnish with a slice of fresh
