Games – It used to be that we’d have to wait to see some form of advertisement or read a gaming magazine to see when the next blockbuster game was coming out. Nowadays, we see them coming from a mile away. Games are teased months, even years in advance to get people excited, and then the companies drip-feed us information through online news articles and YouTube videos.
Gaming is a favoured pastime in Montreal, be it via console, mobile, or PC, with the biggest game releases always garnering a strong player base in the area. We’ve entered the time of year when many top titles are getting very close to release, and the games detailed below are by far the most anticipated among Montreal’s gaming community.
Hockey is back!
It’s been a long summer since we saw the heroics of the Vegas Golden Knights and the eventual Stanley Cup hoisting of Alex Ovechkin. Luckily, the NHL is just around the corner. But before the league starts up again, gamers in Montreal have the chance to enjoy some hockey action in EA Sports’ latest hockey game.
On September 14, NHL 19 hits stores worldwide with many new features. The game still has all of the popular game modes, such as Hockey Ultimate Team, EASHL, and Franchise Mode, but also has a new mode, where the player goes from the ponds to the pros in World of Chel.
The cover stars this year are Canadian sporting legend Wayne Gretzky as well as former Canadien blueliner P.K. Subban. The two have had a huge impact on the sport and will prove to be popular additions to list of cover stars.
Train Japan’s greatest warriors!
New online casino games are released every week, so it takes something quite special to generate hype. Earlier this year, Yggdrasil Gaming teased the release of the upcoming Hanzo’s Dojo, getting everyone excited.
Hanzo’s Dojo, which is due for release on August 23 at Yggdrasil casinos like Casino Cruise, is said to be the ultimate training ground for the greatest fighters in Japan. It includes two different free spin features, expanding wild reels, and massive symbols that are 3×3.
Alongside the Ninja, Fan Fighter, Samurai, and Sumo, the ultimate goal is to trigger the Rooftop slot. Here, players can land massive symbol-toting free spins or wild reels. Training these mighty warriors can lead to huge rewards in Hanzo’s Dojo, with the Far East Asia theme set to become very popular with gamers.
Saddle up, cowboy!
In 2010, Rockstar released the Western sensation Red Dead Redemption to PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. The game was a huge hit, with gamers all over Montreal – and the rest of the world – sinking into the massive open-world game to play as the cowboy protagonist. Ever since the game was released, fans have been craving a sequel. This year, the fans will be appeased.
On October 26, Red Dead Redemption 2 will be available for purchase and is set to be one of the biggest games of 2018. With the addition of online multiplayer, the new game is set to be even more popular than the first. Knowing Rockstar, the game developers will have almost certainly outdone themselves, as they always do with a new release.
Keep your eyes out for NHL 19, Hanzo’s Dojo, and Red Dead Redemption 2 over the coming months, as they’re set to be wildly popular among gamers in Montreal.
