Quebecer Brittany Kennell named SiriusXM top of the country semi-finalist 2020/21

Brittany Kennell

After spending ten years in the United States, and successfully becoming the first Canadian to appear on NBC’s The Voice (Team Blake), Quebec songstress Brittany Kennell released her first official single ‘Eat Drink Remarry’ in February 2020. She followed with the release of ‘You Don’t Get Me Stoned’ in July and to date the songs have received strong support digitally, while the music video for ‘Eat Drink Remarry’ was featured on CMT U.S. After months of writing and recording amidst a global pandemic, Brittany continues the momentum with the release of her brand new single and video ‘Drunk Lips’ available on all digital platforms today via Agence Ranch.

Halfway between Ashley McBryde’s One Night Standards and Miranda Lambert’s Dark Bars, ‘Drunk Lips’ is a nostalgic mix of truth and melancholy about single life. The video, directed by Charles-William De Melo, highlights different stories and encounters in a bar, all while Brittany shares her own narrative on stage.

Drunk Lips is a love triangle between love, truth, and alcohol,” shares Brittany. “Are these feelings real or swayed from too many drinks? I’ve experienced heartbreak from being too vulnerable and trusting only to end up being ghosted or lead on in the end. However, this isn’t just about asking the other person if they are being honest but also asking myself how I feel. We all deserve truth, even when it’s chased with a few drinks.”

Earlier this year SiriusXM Canada named Brittany one of 8 semi-finalists in the 2020/21 Top of the Country competition in partnership with the Canadian Country Music Association.  And, last month the Jim Beam National Talent Search in partnership with Canadian Music Week, chose Brittany for the Montreal finale (one of eight cities highlighted in the competition).

‘Drunk Lips’ fits perfectly with the theme of modern relationships and Brittany’s message of honesty amidst her new songs. She continues to write and record with plans to release her debut album in March (2021).  Produced by John Anthony Gagnon-Robinette, the album will serve to highlight the independent and realistic female – but also one who still believes in love.

In August, Brittany will join the lineup for the first edition of Lasso Montreal, which will take place August 13 and 14, 2021 at Parc Jean-Drapeau. Headliners include Country music superstars Brad Paisley, Luke Bryan, Old Dominion, Morgan Wallen and more. Festival passes are now available at https://www.lassomontreal.com/passes.
