Quebec lengthens shutdown until May – The Premier of Quebec François Legault has lengthened the non-essential shutdown of businesses until Monday May 4th, 2020. The original date of the mandatory shut down was Monday April 13th, 2020. “We have to make sure the curve of new cases of COVID-19 virus are decreasing,” said the Premier Legault.

The Premier of Quebec François Legault and Quebec Economy Minister Pierre Fitzgibbon stressed that Quebecers should buy local products. They added that this will help small and medium sized businesses to survive the mandatory business shutdown to curve the COVID-19 virus.

Latest information on the outbreak of COVID-19 in Quebec

  • The number of cases in Quebec have risen to 7,944
  • 94 deaths have occurred due to COVID-19
  • Parking at Mount-Royal Park in Montreal has been closed
  • All businesses are closed today (Sunday), except: gas stations, pharmacies and depanneurs
  • Quebec medical personal have also received a shipment of much needed medical supplies.

At this moment all non essential business will be closed every Sunday until further notice.

Montreal Police granted more powers

As of this past Friday the Montreal Police were allowed to hand out tickets to citizens who were not upholding the new safety measures. The amount would range from $1,000 to $6,000 that would be determined at a latter date.

Now the Police are allowed to hand out fines for a $1,000 just as they would hand out a traffic ticket.

Please for everyones safety please keep social distance (min. 6 feet), and stay at home.
