Montreal recycling centres to close – As early has next week Montrealer’s recycling debris will not have a place to be sorted. The company, Solides Canadiens, that runs the recycling plants informed the government Friday morning that they will no longer be operating the recycling centres. Solides Canadiens operated four recycling plants in total, two which handled the recycling for the Island of Montreal.

Solides Canadiens released a statement saying, “they can no longer find a market for recycled paper which makes them no longer profitable.”
The city of Montreal is considering its options at the moment and stated, “Landfill is not an option.”
All pick-ups will continue for the moment but a solution has not been found.
