Quebec government considering closing schools

The Quebec government might be considering closing schools across the province to reduce the spread of COVID-19.

The Quebec Premier Francois Legault said they might have to extend the holiday break this winter to help curb the spread of COVID-19. Schools and offices have had the highest rate of transmitting the spread of COVID-19 so far.

Premier Francois Legault said that 1,174 classes have been sent home due to positive cases of COVID-19 since the beginning of this school year. He also said it is certainly clear that schools are a major cause in spreading COVID-19.

The Premier says that if the schools are closed now or the holiday break extended to stop the spread of COVID-19 the school year would be extended in the summer month of July to make up for the lost days.
