Quebec has reported 2,031 new daily cases of COVID-19, breaking the province’s record since the pandemic began – and bringing the number of total cases to 149,908. Not only that, Quebec now holds the record for being the first province in Canada to report a daily increase over 2,000.
The number of hospitalizations now stands at 754 (a drop of 7) with 96 in intensive care (a drop of one). There were 48 deaths, with 11 occurring in the past 24 hours and 27 reported happening between November 28th and December 3rd – bringing the total number of deaths 7,231. Montreal was the hardest hit with 630 new cases, followed by Quebec City with 304 cases – the two biggest cities in the province. Also reporting high numbers were the Monteregie region with 263 news cases, Laval with 166 cases, Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean with 137 cases and the Eastern Townships with 108. It is an overwhelming number of new daily cases and the immediate projections for the next few weeks are not looking good.
