Skiing regulations

As Quebecers await the news from the Quebec Premier to see if Quebec will go into full lockdown again the laurentians is expeted to turn into a red zone as of Monday December 14, 2020.

In Montreal and surrounding areas the numbers of COVID-19 cases has jumped by 21 per cent over the last week according to Quebec’s health research institute. The number of cases being hospitalized has risen 26 per cent since last week.

Ski areas Saint-Sauveur, Saint-Adèle and Mont Tremblant will be in the area that turns into a red zone this coming Monday.

Tim Watchorn, Morin-Heights Mayor says that he wished the Quebec government had set-up road blocks to stop people from travelling up north. “We were very worried this was going to happen. Every weekend the restaurants in Saint-Sauveur and Sainte-Adèle were packed with people and and I can pretty much guarantee it wasn’t local people.”

Public health officials are asking people to not travel between zones as mush as possible.

Quebec Premier François Legault says that with the Christmas break coming we have a good chance to reduce the spread of COVID-19 as long as all Quebecers follow the restrictions and avoid gatherings.
