SOULFEST MTL is back for its highly anticipated third edition, taking place July 9–12 on the forecourt of St. James United Church, in the heart of downtown Montreal. Over four days, the festival will present a free outdoor program celebrating the vibrant sounds of Soul, Motown, R&B, Disco, and Gospel, featuring acclaimed artists including Dawn Tyler Watson and Kim Richardson, among many others.
A true summer gathering, SOULFEST MTL invites audiences to experience an unforgettable celebration of music and culture in one of Montreal’s most iconic heritage settings. The forecourt of St. James United Church will be transformed into an open-air stage, showcasing both emerging talent and established performers from Quebec’s and Canada’s soul music scene.

A FREE Outdoor Music Celebration
Festivalgoers will enjoy free outdoor performances throughout the weekend featuring artists spanning Soul, R&B, Gospel, Funk, and Disco. Supporting emerging artists remains a cornerstone of SOULFEST MTL’s mission. By providing an important professional platform for new talent, the festival actively fosters the development and visibility of the next generation of artists while encouraging collaboration between emerging creators and established performers.
To improve accessibility and welcome even more visitors, the sidewalk will be closed throughout the festival. An outdoor terrace and bar will also be available, allowing guests to fully immerse themselves in the festive atmosphere.
Exclusive Evening Shows at Le Balcon Cabaret Chic
In addition to the outdoor programming, Le Balcon Cabaret Chic will present a series of ticketed indoor performances featuring celebrated artists from the soul music scene:
- Dawn Tyler Watson will open the festival with her acclaimed Motown & Soul show on July 9.
- Freddie James will present his tribute to soul legends on July 10.
- Disco Chic Ultime will light up the stage on Saturday, July 11.
- Kim Richardson will deliver a special closing concert on Sunday, July 12.

A Soulful Culinary Experience
To complement the music, SOULFEST MTL and Le Balcon will offer a special menu inspired by the rich traditions of Soul Food. These signature dishes will be available throughout the festival, both on the outdoor terrace and as part of Le Balcon’s dinner-and-show packages.
