New 740 housing project in Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue

The City of Sainte-Anne-de- Bellevue is proud to announce that an important step has been taken in the sale of the land adjacent to Sainte-Anne’s Hospital with the signing of a promise to purchase for an amount of $12.5M.

The agreement, signed on October 5th between the City and Dév Méta, specifically concerns the land located on Boulevard des Anciens-Combattants. This land was transferred to the City of Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue in 2019 by the Government of Quebec as financial compensation, following the transfer of the federal hospital to the Centre intégré universitaire de santé et de services sociaux (CIUSSS) de l’Ouest-de-l’Ile-de- Montréal.

Following the signing of the promise to purchase, and once the legal and technical terms have been finalized, the work on a new residential project is scheduled to begin in the autumn of 2022 and should be completed during the 5 following years. The residential project represents a major investment of almost $300M.

“We are very proud to see the realization of the largest real estate development project in the history of Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue. This promising project emerges from an avant- garde and holistic vision of urban development, for which we have worked very hard in recent years. Once realized, this eco-responsible development model will undoubtedly become an example to follow for any new project in Quebec,” said Paola Hawa, Mayor of Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue.

Embracing the vision of the Special Planning Program (SPU) of Boulevard des Anciens- Combattants adopted on May 13, 2019 by the City Council, the mixed, multi-family development project destined to a clientele of 55 years and over aims to develop a living environment on a human scale, that promotes active transportation, socialization, and a sense of belonging.

Located near Ste. Anne’s Hospital, the project will be comprised of 4 buildings comprised of 740 housing units, including residential rental units, condominiums, affordable housing, as well as a seniors’ residence. The facilities will be accessible to people with reduced mobility, and a variety of local services will be offered to residents.

The eco-responsible design of the development project is based on optimal management of energy and resources, and includes public spaces, woodland conservation, community gardens, and green roofs. The built and landscaped environment will be inspired by the surrounding agricultural context that highlights the presence of the MacDonald Farm and will remain rooted in the legacy of Canada’s Veterans.
