Montreal Electric scooter DEMO day

Montreal-Electric-scooter-min

The electric scooter sharing service aims to begin operations this spring in Montreal. In order to raise awareness of best practices related to this new mode of transportation, Destination Centre-Ville will organize four days of testing and information on the rules of good scooter conduct to promote safety downtown.

Free and open to all, these information days will be held downtown during the week of April 15 to 18. The public will be able to obtain more information on the upcoming service but also ride the scooters on a demo track supervised by a team of professionals. Helmets will be freely available to the public.

The four days of testing and information will be held at the following addresses:

  • Monday, April 15th – 12pm to 6pm: near the Complex Desjardins, corner of Rene-Levesque and
  • Jeanne Mance.
  • Tuesday, April 16 – 12pm to 6pm: in the entrance hall of 1000 De La Gauchetière.
  • Wednesday, April 17 – 8am to 2pm: On the forecourt of 1250 Rene Levesque Boulevard West.
  • Thursday 18th April – 8am to 2pm: On the forecourt of 1360 Rene Levesque Boulevard West.

“The current construction sites in the city centre make car travel more complex and constitute a real challenge for the mobility of thousands of people who visit it every day. We therefore want to encourage alternative and environmentally friendly modes of transportation, which, like electric scooters, will help optimize short-distance travel and potentially increase ridership in downtown stores. This can only be done if future users know and respect the rules of good conduct and know how to share public spaces. It is therefore important to inform and educate the entire population before the arrival of these new modes of transportation in Montreal.” said Emile Roux, CEO of Destination Centre-Ville.

“Currently serving more than 100 cities around the world, Lime is excited to bring electric scooters to Montreal,” added Chris Schafer, Senior Director of Strategic Development for Lime Canada. “Lime prides itself on working with cities towards safe and responsible electric scooter etiquette and our collaboration with Destination Centre-Ville aims to introduce electric scooters responsibly to Montrealers.”
