Dorval still dissatisfied with the Flood Zone Map

Dorval still dissatisfied with the Flood Zone – In response to pressure exerted by the City of Dorval and other municipalities in relation to the inaccuracies of the maps representing the flooded territories, the Quebec government has submitted a new map of affected flood zones in 2017 and 2019 and the city of Dorval still dissatisfied with the Flood Zone.

Dorval Flood Zone map

However, although this map more accurately reflects the reality, the City of Dorval considers that it is still incorrect regarding boundaries of its territory. In fact, certain areas that were not affected by floods in 2017 and 2019 are still located in the special planning zone (SPZ) decreed by the Quebec government.

Due to this decree, we remind citizens that it is practically impossible for the City of Dorval to issue construction permits for buildings that are still located in the area covered in the new SPZ.

At this point, the City has submitted its requests to the ministère des Affaires municipales et de l’Habitation(MAMH), as required by the government, in order to ask for the withdrawal of Dorval sectors that are still affected by the new SPZ.
