5@9 Strut the Catwalk! -Wednesday, August 14th – 5 to 9 pm
As part of the festival programme, don your favourite outfit and strut your stuff at the ephemeral installation Strut the Catwalk! on Avenue du Musée. Prefer to stay in the shadows? Come cheer on the participants while enjoying a beautiful summer evening in the heart of the museum complex. The free participatory fashion show, hosted by a surprise guest, will take place from 6 to 7 pm, to the sounds of DJ FRIGID. A cash bar will be available to participants. Online registration required for participation in the fashion show (Spots limited).
Pride Parade 2019 – Sunday, August 18, 1 to 4 pm
The MMFA will march through the streets of Montreal with members of the LGBTQ+ community, artists and friends from every culture. With the participation of Never Apart, 50 artists from the Wiggle Festival, accompanied by 200 marchers, will surround the Museum’s float, featuring the colours of creations in the Thierry Mugler: Couturissime exhibition. The only museum in the parade, the MMFA will inspire marchers with the rhythms of DJ Fecal Matter – whose creations grace the Montreal Couture exhibition – and models decked out in an homage to Mugler.
Thierry Mugler: Couturissime and Montreal Couture – Until September 8, 2019
Over 200,000 visitors have fallen under the spell of Thierry Mugler: Couturissime. It is a feast for the eyes with some 150 outfits, numerous photographs, archival documents and never-before seen sketches.
Visitors can round out their experience with Montreal Couture, and get an up-close look at the work of local designers. This exhibition brings together the creations of established and emerging talent who, each in their unique way, are redefining contemporary Quebec fashion.
