Public outcry in raising minimum wage in Quebec

This past Friday a press conference was held with over 200 labour groups and unions to call on the government to raise minimum wage.

Quebec’s minimum wage at the present time is $12.50 per hour. The representatives stated it is not enough money for people to live. They called for a raise to $15 per hour. A $15 per hour minimum wage would allow a reasonable standard of living.

Some people have said $15 would not be enough and would cry for more.

Many economists believe that if minimum wages were to be raised many business would have to fine ways to cut cost like automative replacement for workers.

At the present time the Quebec government as stated the minimum wage will be raised to $13 per hour in May 2020.
